A venue security risk assessment underpinned a long-term site development strategy for a major events venue, setting out technologies, phasing and budget for its security control capability.
THE CHALLENGE
A major Australian events venue was planning the long-term development of its security control capability. Before committing to new infrastructure, it needed a clear view of its security risk context, the threats relevant to large public events, and how well its existing controls and infrastructure were performing. Any strategy also had to take in the future of the venue security control room and the procurement of security projects over many years. Emerging technology added a further layer, with Australia’s AI Ethics Principles, state government AI guidance, information privacy regulation, the privacy risks of generative AI tools and camera surveillance obligations all needing to be reconciled in one phased plan.
OUR APPROACH
Agilient began with a security threat and risk assessment of the venue. Consultation with facilities and operational stakeholders informed an assessment of the risk context, existing security controls and infrastructure, and the threats relevant to the venue’s operations. Agilient then considered the role of the security control room and how monitoring and response capability should develop over the planning horizon. Recommended technologies and configurations were tested against privacy and compliance requirements, including AI governance expectations and camera surveillance obligations, so that capability upgrades would remain lawful and proportionate as analytics tools mature. Procurement considerations for future security projects were built into the strategy, allowing the venue to stage investment in step with its broader site development planning.
