A tailored, scenario-based insider threat training program aligned with the Defence Industry Security Program built personnel security awareness among a national fuel company’s managers and was converted into online modules.
THE CHALLENGE
A national fuel company was working to meet the requirements for membership of the Defence Industry Security Program. As part of this, it needed to build awareness of insider threat and strengthen personnel security capability across its workforce, particularly among staff in critical managerial roles. The company wanted content tailored to its own procedures and operating requirements rather than generic awareness material. It wanted training that was practical, interactive and scenario-based, so that managers could recognise and respond to insider threat concerns in their day-to-day work. It also needed a delivery model that could begin with face-to-face sessions and then extend to the wider workforce through online learning, giving the training long-term reach across the organisation.
OUR APPROACH
Agilient designed and delivered a tailored training program using a structured four-step method: analyse, design, conduct and evaluate, and transition to online delivery. The analysis stage included a review of the company’s internal procedures so that content reflected how the business operates. Agilient aligned the training content with the Defence Industry Security Program and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), and developed case studies and practical exercises around insider threat and personnel security scenarios. Live workshops were then facilitated with managers, using interactive discussion and exercises to work through realistic situations. Following the face-to-face sessions, Agilient supported the company in converting the material into an interactive e-learning format, giving the wider workforce ongoing access to the training and allowing the organisation to sustain awareness beyond the initial sessions.
THE OUTCOME
The company gained a tailored personnel security training capability that supports its Defence Industry Security Program requirements.
