Following a series of break-ins, a security threat and risk assessment gave a manufacturing and distribution company a site-specific risk register and prioritised warehouse security recommendations.
THE CHALLENGE
A company operating across manufacturing, distribution and logistics needed a security review of one of its warehouse facilities. Recent incidents, including break-ins, had exposed weaknesses in the site’s security arrangements and created an urgent need to protect people, assets and operations at an important distribution hub. The company wanted a clear understanding of its current security posture and a practical roadmap for addressing the weaknesses. The review needed to draw on the knowledge of the people who work at the site as well as a physical inspection. The company needed a specialist security partner to assess the physical, technical and procedural measures at the site thoroughly and provide recommendations that could be implemented with confidence, in a clear order of priority.
OUR APPROACH
Agilient conducted a security threat and risk assessment using a structured five-phase method aligned with AS ISO 31000:2018 and informed by SA HB 167. The engagement began with project initiation and a review of existing security documentation, operational procedures and incident history, which set the context and highlighted early areas of concern. An on-site inspection then examined the physical, technical and procedural measures protecting the facility, including perimeter security, access control, CCTV, lighting and incident response arrangements. Intruder alarm arrangements were considered against the AS 2201 series. Consultants interviewed key personnel across operations and security to understand day-to-day challenges and how well existing controls were working. A detailed risk analysis followed, evaluating the likelihood and consequence of credible threats in the context of the company’s manufacturing, distribution and logistics operations.
THE OUTCOME
The company received a single, consolidated assessment and a practical basis for making risk-based decisions on security investment and ongoing security management.
