THE CHALLENGE
A national construction materials company operates a large network of operational sites alongside corporate offices and high-profile corporate events. Its security needs have changed over time, and it has needed a trusted adviser able to respond to an evolving risk landscape across several areas at once. Leadership needed a clear, current picture of external threats to support decisions. Some sites lacked foundational controls such as access management and perimeter security, which showed the need for a more proactive and consistent approach across the operational footprint. The company also needed specialist support for its annual general meetings and for changes to its corporate premises, where discretion and careful coordination with third parties were important. The aim throughout was to address risks before they could escalate into incidents.
OUR APPROACH
Agilient has worked with the company as a retained security partner across several workstreams. A central element has been a strategic risk assessment of external threats, maintained as a living document and updated as new developments emerged. It gives the executive team a structured analysis of threat actors, possible escalation scenarios and recommended mitigations, and has supported both operational and legal planning. After a site visit revealed missing basic controls, Agilient initiated a site security review program to establish a baseline of physical security conditions, identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements, shifting the organisation from reactive to preventative security. Agilient has also planned security for annual general meetings, including venue assessments, coordination with third-party security providers and contingency planning. This involved reviewing earlier event security plans, inspecting venues and liaising with venue management and security contractors. In addition, it advised on the security suitability of new premises during an executive office relocation.
