CEO Protection Program Keeps a Chief Executive and Their Family Safe Through a Period of Serious Threats

City office towers lit at night

When a chief executive became the focus of serious threats, Agilient built and ran a CEO protection program around the person and their family, and supported them through a difficult period until the risk subsided.

THE CHALLENGE

The chief executive of a well-known Australian company became the focus of a protracted and contentious dispute. Over time the hostility became personal, and the threat picture included people with a demonstrated capability to act. The chief executive’s family was exposed as well, and the period also required the chief executive to attend court and give evidence. The organisation needed a clear view of how serious the risk was, a protection response proportionate to it, and someone to manage that response end to end so the chief executive could keep leading the business.

OUR APPROACH

Agilient began with an executive threat assessment aligned with AS ISO 31000:2018, identifying the credible threat actors, their intent and capability, and the points where the chief executive and their family were most exposed. Open-source reviews established what could be found about the family, the home and the chief executive’s routine.

The resulting protection plan covered every part of the principal’s life: the home and family, travel to and from work, the workplace, business travel, attendance at events, and attendance at court, including the days the chief executive gave evidence. Agilient did not stop at the plan. It put the measures in place, coordinated the licensed providers involved on the organisation’s behalf, including executive close protection where the threat called for it, and adjusted the arrangements as the threat changed.

Throughout, Agilient supported the chief executive personally. Regular welfare checks on the chief executive and their family, and briefings that helped family members understand and trust the arrangements, kept anxiety in proportion to the actual risk.

THE OUTCOME

The chief executive and their family came through the period safely, and the organisation had a single, independent point of control for the whole response.

  • A threat and risk assessment that set the level of protection against the evidence
  • A tiered protection plan covering home, family, travel, workplace, events and court appearances, implemented and managed by Agilient
  • Coordinated, licensed protective services overseen independently on the organisation’s behalf
  • Welfare checks and family support that helped the household cope with a stressful period
