One of the most rapidly evolving and expanding challenges being faced today is cyber security. Often misunderstood and overlooked, cyber security has emerged as an extremely important, high profile, cross-sectoral theme in our digital environment. Indeed, the global cybersecurity market is expected to reach AUD$200 billion by 2020, as digital technology continues to thrive.
That is why the Australian Government has developed the NSW Cyber Security Industry Development Strategy, which identifies four key targets for supporting the sustainable growth of the cyber industry:
- Support innovation and collaboration to drive commercial outcomes in cyber security;
- Support start-ups and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) to increase investment in and commercialisation of intellectual property;
- Grow exports and attract investment in the NSW cyber security sector; and
- Close the cyber security workforce skills gap.
Emphasized is the need to bring together government, businesses, academics and researchers to develop and commercialise Australia’s cyber security capabilities. This also creates an opportunity to acknowledge and utilise existing industry leaders in cyber security.
Which is where Agilient comes in. As a preeminent cyber security firm in NSW, Agilient was engaged extensively with the Government during this project and made major contributions to the strategy. Because of the large number of our high-profile and cutting-edge projects in the industry, Agilient was one of three leading cyber security firms to feature in the case studies of success stories.
In terms of cyber security, Agilient specialises in applying globally recognised information security standards and frameworks to both private and public sectors. Agilient’s experts are highly trained in assessing a business’s cyber security capabilities, identifying their needs and enabling the enforcement of enhanced information security frameworks.
As part of their contribution, Agilient prides itself on keeping up-to-date with important industry news and information and providing in-depth articles to a wide audience through its website. Written by security experts, these articles feature topics including global security news and events, announcements and tips and tricks.
Agilient also assists the cyber security industry in NSW by developing efficient tools and templates. For example, Agilient created a Cyber Security Mapping Toolset that facilities standard implementation and also helps with cyber risk management and compliance. Currently 220 organisations utilise this tool, including some of the largest government departments and commercial organisations in Australia. The tool can be obtained by joining the Agilient Tribe.
Agilient was honoured to be part of the first NSW Cyber Security Industry Development Strategy and we look forward to being a part of many more collaborations like it across the industry in the future.
